Every piece is made to order. Current turnaround is 2 to 3 weeks

The fine print

Written to be read, not to be skipped.

Short version: everything is made by one person, by hand, after you order it. That makes some things slower than a big shop and some things better. Here's exactly what to expect.

Shipping

Turnaround. Made-to-order pieces take about two to three weeks from the day we've settled on your options. That's build time, not shipping time. Anything listed as Ready to ship is already finished and usually goes out within two business days.

Cost. Shipping within the United States is a flat $9, however many pieces are in the order, and it's free on orders over $150. The rate is shown at checkout before you pay.

International. Checkout only accepts US shipping addresses. I do ship outside the US, but email me before ordering so I can quote the postage properly and invoice you directly. Import duties, taxes, and customs handling fees are the buyer's responsibility and are not included in what you pay me.

Tracking. You get a tracking number when the parcel leaves. Once it's with the carrier, delivery timing is out of my hands. If a parcel goes missing or arrives damaged, tell me and I'll help you chase it down.

Returns

Ready-to-ship pieces. If you change your mind, send it back within 14 days of delivery in unused condition and I'll refund the purchase price. Return postage is on you unless the piece was faulty or I sent the wrong thing.

Made-to-order and custom pieces. These are cut specifically for you, in the colours you picked, so they can't be returned simply because you changed your mind. That's the trade-off for getting exactly what you asked for.

If I got it wrong. Different rule entirely. If a piece doesn't match what we agreed, has a defect, or arrives damaged, tell me within 14 days with a photo and I'll repair it, remake it, or refund you, whichever you prefer. I'll cover the postage both ways.

Not a defect. Natural variation in the hide, meaning colour differences between batches, grain texture, healed scars, range marks, and small tone shifts, is a characteristic of full-grain leather rather than a fault. Every piece is genuinely one of one.

Repairs and how long it should last

If my stitching, my edge work, or hardware I installed fails under normal use, send the piece back and I'll repair it. I made it, I know how it goes together, and I'd rather fix it than have it thrown out.

Damage from accidents, hard wear, water, heat, or someone else's repair attempt I'll still take on. I'll just quote you for the work first. Postage to me is yours; I'll cover it coming back.

Custom orders

Custom work starts with a conversation and a written quote. Nothing is binding until you've seen the number and said yes.

On larger builds I usually take half up front to cover the hide and hardware, with the balance due before it ships. Smaller pieces are paid in full up front. Once a hide has been cut for your piece, the deposit isn't refundable, because the material is committed at that point. I will always tell you before I cut.

If your deadline is real, say so early. I'd rather tell you up front that I can't make it than miss it.

Pricing and availability

Prices can change without notice, and I may retire a design at any time. The price you were quoted or that you paid at checkout is the price that stands for your order.

Photographs are taken in natural light and are as accurate as I can make them, but screens vary and leather varies. Expect your piece to be in the family of the colour shown, not a pixel-perfect copy.

Your information

When you send the contact form, the name, email, and message you type are delivered to me by Formspree, a third-party form service. I use that information to answer you and to fulfil your order, and for nothing else.

If you buy something, payment is handled by Stripe. Your card details go to Stripe, not to me, so I never see or store a card number.

I don't sell your information, I don't share it with anyone beyond what's needed to ship your order, and I don't run advertising trackers on this site. Want your details deleted from my inbox? Ask, and I'll do it.

Terms of service

By using this site or placing an order you're agreeing to what's on this page.

I reserve the right to decline or cancel an order. For instance, if a listing had an obvious pricing error, if I can't source the material, or if I don't think I can build the thing well. If I cancel, you get a full refund promptly.

Everything on this site, including photographs, text, patterns, and the Old Chief Leather Co. name and logo, belongs to Old Chief Leather Co. Please don't reuse it commercially without asking. Ask, though; the answer is often yes.

My liability for any order is limited to what you paid for that order.

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Utah, USA.
